Running of the Wieners

The Running of the Wieners races are the annual kickoff to Oktoberfest-Zinzinnati.

100 dachshunds will race to be crowned the winning wiener at the seventh-annual Hillshire Farm Running of the Wieners on Friday, September 20, 2013.

How it works

Each dachshund, outfitted in their provided hot dog bun costume, will run approximately 75 feet in heats of ten to their owners at the opposite end. The winner of each heat will compete in a final race to determine the winning wiener dog! Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners!

Race Details

Takes place the Friday before Oktoberfest
Noon - 1:00 p.m.
Fountain Square

Check-in: 10-11:30 a.m.
Heat 1 start: Noon

Cost: $25 (includes all race competition gear including hot dog bun costume and owner t-shirt. A portion of the proceeds will also be donated to a dachshund rescue charity).  

German food, music and ice cold beer will be available on Fountain Square during Running of the Wieners and will remain open until midnight for a behind-the-scenes "sneak peek" of the Oktoberfest setup.
